A high-end 125cc equivalent for the Indian market
Engine with 15 horsepower and 40 Nm of torque, aluminum perimeter frame, single-sided swingarm, 10-inch display, 140 km of range
Giant in its own country, the Indian manufacturer TVS is far from unknown in our regions, even if it doesn’t operate under its own name. It is, in fact, to this brand that we owe, for example, the small-displacement BMW G310 or the revival of Norton Motorcycles.
Engaged with the Bavarian manufacturer in the development of the electric motorcycle CE-02, the Indian brand has also developed its own electric scooter with the X. Definitely, the 24th letter of the alphabet is in fashion in this summer of 2023.
With its aggressive look, the X immediately conveys an image of a dynamic and high-performance scooter. And that’s exactly what this 125cc equivalent model aims to be as the flagship of TVS’ electric range.
This begins with the chassis, featuring an aluminum perimeter frame and an aluminum swingarm that looks more like a motorcycle than a scooter. On the other hand, its equipment is fairly classic, with a telescopic fork, remote rear shock absorber, disc brakes, ABS only on the front and alloy wheels.
The electric motor, positioned on the arm with belt drive, boasts a maximum output of 15 hp (9.5 bhp rated power) and 40 Nm of torque. This performance can be adjusted via three driving modes, Xtealth, Xtride and Xonic, and is combined with a range of assists such as reverse assist and cruise control.
Equipped with LED headlights, a 10.2-inch TFT display, connected functions and keyless start, the TVS X also comes with an alarm as standard. Its 4.44 kWh battery boasts a range of up to 140 km and an 80% recharge time of 4.5 hours, while the optional rapid charger adds 50% more range in 50 minutes.
The X electric scooter will be launched in India by TVS in November at a price of 249,990 rupees (approx. 11,100 AED). For the time being, nothing has been announced about any sales outside the domestic market.
