Three Variations For More Off-Road Fun
Inline twin-cylinder of 799 cc, 96.5 hp, and 80 Nm, spoked wheels of 21 and 18 inches, TFT display
A year ago, the Chinese manufacturer Kove arrived in Milan with big ambitions, notably confirming its first 800cc trail and promising to disrupt the highly competitive European segment.
However, a year later, the 800X Super Adventure is still awaited and has especially evolved into three distinct models, losing its ‘Super’ aspect in the process but gaining two other qualifications. Kove now promises a range composed of the 800X Adventure, the 800X Adventure Pro, and the 800X Rally.
800X Adventure
Visually, no changes; the 800X Adventure remains strictly identical to the prototype presented at the end of 2022, with its LED lighting, reinforcing bars, aluminum engine guard, and its connected TFT display. At the heart of the trail, the inline twin-cylinder 799cc engine remains unchanged, heavily inspired by KTM’s twin, still claiming the same values of 96.5 horsepower and 80 Nm of torque. The manufacturer even ventures to claim a top speed of 210 km/h.
The chassis remains unchanged, featuring Yu-An suspensions providing 210mm of travel both at the front and rear, 245mm ground clearance, spoked wheels of 21 and 18 inches fitted with CST tires, and two front discs of 310mm gripped by floating Hangte 2-piston calipers. However, the seat is now positioned between 835 and 845mm in height, and notably, the fuel tank loses 3 liters to offer a capacity of 19 liters.
Standard equipment includes slipper clutch, ABS, steering damper, and traction control. The weight, previously announced at 183 kg dry last year, is now stated as 188 kg ready to ride.
800X Adventure Pro
The Pro variant appears as a model slightly more oriented towards off-road, especially benefiting from equipment sourced from more renowned manufacturers. The now adjustable suspensions are handled by KYB and operate with 240mm of travel, increasing the ground clearance to 275mm, while also raising the seat height to 865/875mm.
While the rims remain the same, they are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires in this version. The front brake relies on two 320mm discs and Taisko radial calipers with 4 pistons. The rear ABS is disconnectable, and a quickshifter is added to the standard features. Logically, this model is expected to be launched in European markets.
800X Rally
Finally, the 800X is also available in a Rally version. Here, the focus is clearly on off-road with specifications that lean even further in that direction, such as the raised front fender under the headlight. The suspensions increase to 270mm of travel at the front and 250mm at the rear, the seat is flatter and at a height of 895mm, ground clearance goes up to 293mm, and the rims are fitted with thinner, tube-type enduro tires. The front brake is notably lightened, featuring only a single 310mm disc and a floating dual-piston caliper.
At present, nothing has been officially confirmed for Middle East market, but the European importer announces availability of the 800X Adventure and Adventure Pro for March in Italy, where they will be sold at 8,990 euros and 9,790 euros respectively. The 800X Rally, on the other hand, won’t arrive before autumn 2024 and will require at least 12,980 euros.
