4 Cylinders In Line Of 399 cm3, 80 hp, 188 kg

The Akashi-based manufacturer has just made its Ninja ZX-4R official and presents it to us in detail.

Developed around the lightweight chassis of the Ninja ZX-25R, another 4-cylinder sportbike, the ZX-4R takes performance to the next level with its 399cc inline engine. The brand announces a maximum power of 77 horsepower and even 80 horsepower with the Ram-Air.

Kawasaki promises to have combined a high level of low- and mid-range torque with strong power at high rpm to suit both track and everyday use. Like the larger-displacement Ninja, the 400 features the Ram Air system with an air intake in the center of the fork and ducts on the left side. As for the block, it is capable of exceeding 15,000 rpm.

On the chassis side, we find a steel trellis frame associated with a long swingarm. The front suspension is equipped with a Showa SFF-BP inverted fork, while the rear suspension is a Back-Link type like on the ZX-10R. Braking is provided by 290 mm discs and radial calipers at the front and a single 220 mm disc at the rear. The 17-inch wheels are shod in 120/70 and 160/60.

The Japanese sportbike, which features the iconic Ninja styling, also benefits from a number of power assists with four riding modes (Sport, Road, Rain and Custom) and traction control. There’s also full LED lighting, a 4.3-inch color TFT meter with an adjustable display that can be connected via the Rideology app.

All this is for the standard Ninja ZX-4R, because Kawasaki also plans a SE version and a ZX-4RR.

The SE is distinguished by the addition of a bi-directional shifter as standard, a smoked bubble, a USB plug and a crankcase cover. The RR gets the shifter, but also a preload-adjustable fork and an adjustable Showa BRFC-Lite rear shock.
